Now that as of a few weeks ago, my football season has officially ended (my team lost in their Wild Card game) – Go Skins!! I started to think about all the wonderful women who are football fans just as much and if not more than their significant others and how football can play a role in their wedding. Football is life for many and a lot of women are just as die-hard so getting married can also be a time to rep your squad.
There are several subtle and not to subtle ways to incorporate football into your big day. There are several so I will break up my posts into three (3) parts to attempt to cover some great ideas. Let’s start with the most obvious, your engagement session. This is a great opportunity for you and your fiancé to throw on your jerseys and have some fun. You can utilize the shots on the programs, as part of the guest book, go bold and put a shot on your save the dates or on the entry portrait to your reception. Here are some great engagement shots that utilized the football field/stadium.
Garters can also be made to match any football team imaginable. Can’t find a team garter, no biggie, when your groom takes your garter off to toss to the fellas, simply place it around a football for a little playbook action (warning – please be very careful) I don’t want the ball to end up in your wedding cake and have it demolished because somebody thought to “go long”, laughing at the thought. How cute would it be to have your ring bearer coming down the aisle with your team on the ring pillow?
Planning an elegant affair with some great football touches is easy and shows your couple personality. Of course this post is about football but touches can be added from your favorite basketball, soccer, baseball and hockey teams. Hey, I say mix them up!! I’m sure you cheer for other teams during the remainder of the year.
And for the Best Advice Ever…try not to plan your wedding around the Super Bowl.
Happy Planning & #HTTR!!
